ABOUT THE HOSPITAL

Formerly known as SSK Dışkapı Training and Research Hospital, hospital’s name was changed into
Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Training and Research Hospital in 2005 when all SSK hospitals
 (Social Security Board of Ministry of Labor)were transferred to the Ministry of Health of Turkey.
 Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Training and Research Hospital was built and put in health service in 1964.
Since its establishment, it has always been one of the largest key hospitals in number
of patient visits and residency training in Turkey. The hospital lies very near the old town of
Ankara on the road connecting the city to the international airport of Ankara.  The central campus
occupies a land of 6 acres. Besides Dışkapı Central Campus in the heart of the old city,  it has three
outpatient centers in various districts of Ankara (Pursaklar, Hasköy and Etlik). Currently, there are over
45 departments providing residency training. It is proud to have trained over 1.100 physicians since its
establishment. The number of outpatient visits is one and half million per year. It has state of the art
Radiology, Dialysis, Endocrinology, Audiology centers and Burn Unit.  There are about 450 residents and
300 staff physicians along with 450 nurses and auxiliary health personnel. Some 3.000 personnel are
serving in the hospital.  The emergency visits number up to 750/day. Approximately 35.000 surgical
operations are performed each year.  The hospital bed capacity is more than 800.
